Jacqueline Nortman & Miguel Solis
Miguel Solis and Jacqueline Nortman first met each other at St. Catherine’s Middle School in Port Arthur, TX. What started off as “puppy love” evolved into ten years of a long-distance relationship capstoned by their marriage in October 2015. During this time Jacqueline majored in biochemistry at the University of Detroit-Mercy while captaining her division 1-A college softball team, receiving her M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, and completing her residency at the University of Oklahoma Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. She now practices pediatric medicine at a private practice in Crandall, TX. Miguel received his bachelors in history with a minor in political science from Lamar University and directly after graduation served as a staff member on President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. He would later serve as a Teach For America corps member in Dallas, TX and receive his masters degree in educational policy and management from Harvard University. In 2013, Miguel was elected to the Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees where he continues to serve 158,000 students. He is also a co-founder of the Dallas based Latino Center for Leadership Development. Miguel and Jacqueline welcomed their daughter Olivia Rene “Faith” Solis to the world on February 22, 2018.
Since the first time his mom handed Skyler a blue crayon as a small child, he's been doodling everywhere he goes. He would draw space ships and dinosaurs on the underside of pews at church and fill volumes of printer paper with illustrations of trucks and towers. Once he discovered MS Paint on his family's computer, his passion for drawing transformed from just pen and paper to digital, eventually moving on from Paint to Illustrator and Photoshop. He was able to chase his love for art & design throughout his schooling in Plano, TX and Provo, UT while attending BYU. He was fortunate to have great art & design teachers everywhere along the way, and especially to have an older brother/best friend, Pierce, who helped foster his love for art and design.
Skyler works as a freelance graphic designer in Dallas, TX as well as a stay-at-home dad of his one year old creative collaborator, Elinor. You can find them exploring the Dallas Zoo or riding around White Rock Lake on any given afternoon.
